Representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism visited the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, University of Montenegro on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The reason for the meeting was the review of current activities within the joint international project "Development of Regional Joint Master Program in Maritime Environmental Protection and Management (MEP & M)" which began with the implementation on January 15, 2021. The project is funded by the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture of the European Union (EACEA).
During the working meeting, the representatives of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor presented the existing infrastructure capacities, ship simulators, laboratory and other sophisticated equipment used for scientific and research purposes within the Center for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Also, previous and current bilateral and international projects were presented and the results achieved so far.
Through the open dialogue, several directions of future cooperation between the Environmental Protection Agency and the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor in the field of marine and environmental protection, coastal, sea and underwater research, as well as the Ministry's readiness to actively engage in existing activities and support any new initiative.
In the coming period, more active participation of the Agency's representatives, members of the MEP&M project team is expected in the organization of development activities related to the accreditation of the joint interdisciplinary master's program in English. In addition, representatives of both institutions are participating in the preparation of a proposal for a new project related to decarbonization in maritime transport and logistics, hoping for another joint success.
